Judge Jia M. Cobb rejected what she called “a truly startling argument” from the government that it could use a fast-track procedure to remove people arrested far from the southern border.

When mere accusation lets them take away your right to a fair hearing, then nobody has any rights at all. Let’s hope this ruling holds.l upon appeal.

    If anyone can be denied due process then literally no one is assured of getting their day in court, If this judge’s ruling is overturned, then anyone anywhere can be grabbed by a masked ICE agent, shoved in an unmarked van, given no chance to prove that they are a legal resident or even an American citizen, and then be deported to a foreign country that they’ve never even been to.

    That’s the entire idea, yes.
