    That’s a muscovy. Have you lived there long? If not, did the previous people feed her last year? Try peas. Like: get a bag of frozen peas, microwave so they aren’t frozen (or hot) and toss a couple out on the walk.

    Muscovies are such great moms. They’re so sweet but will also try to throw hands if they think you’re a threat. My Muscovy hen is very protective. She breached containment one day recently to try to fight a deer, a buck specifically, that had gotten too close to the pen for her liking. I went outside and she had him cornered and was hissing and kept charging him. The deer was so confused and scared. I distracted my bird long enough for the buck to leave and managed to get her contained again without issue.
