Even supposed leftists are just like “I don’t agree with the man but no one deserves to get killed over their beliefs”.

Because corporate social media usually disallows VPNS/Tor and people who use those are probably not using any anonyminization. Its a very bad idea to say “LOL DESERVED IT” since the feds can break down your door.

This why why every left-of-center politician “condemns” it, even if deep inside, they are secretly celebrating it.

This is mentioned in DeathNote (I’m not glorifying any of the characters btw), Light said that in real life, people would always condemn extrajudicial killings because its a social norm/expectation to condem it, but if given anonymity (and without the censorship, of course), they would reveal their true feelings. Hence, Lemmy (for the left), 4chan (for the right). Reddit censored all those comments, which is why you don’t see them.

IRL, admitting to enjoying a someone’s death (excluding enemy combatants) could land you in involuntary commitment, lands you on top of government watchlists, they could send their goons to harass you. That’s why you should never admit to it when on a non-anoynous account, and never say that IRL.

It’s hard to celebrate knowing that this only will radicalize the fascist fuckwits. I too relvel in the irony of this guys own words, but the crackdown that is going to follow upon people on the left side of extreme right, on transgenders and on the unfortunate I mourn more than anything today.

This dumb fuck is going to be a martyr for dumb fucks and I already hate it.

Personally I doubt most of these people are genuinely worried about being harassed by the state for publicizing those beliefs. In some cases maybe they should be worried, but in reality I think most of them are more concerned with social pressures.

If you voice those opinions, hordes of people will attack you for it. And that’s a product of both wide spread conservatism influencing real peoples view of the situation, and social media platforms actively crushing dissent and pushing the narrative that aligns with their interests.

In all likelihood my comments, despite being made with no vpn or tor, will never result in any action taken against me. That’s simply because I don’t pose any material threat to the state or its power. America maintains its illusion of freedom by explicitly allowing dissent, as long as it doesn’t have teeth. I am simply not worth the trouble.

I think the vast majority of them actually do condemn it, but it’s the real reason that’s bad: The lives of the elites themselves are not supposed to be in play when they get the regular people to kill each other.
