The best journalism I see these days is either done by big names like AP or random dudes with cellphones.

I never lived in LA and I have an LA Times subscriptions. As far as I can tell, it is still provides quality journalism, despite some questionable decision making. I keep supporting it primarily because I feel like if it goes under then it will leave a big news void on the west coast. I try to support local media in addition to some of the big brands

It’s just getting smaller and smaller, and the stories are less and less deeply researched. I still get it, but a lot of days I feel like a modern day Don Quixote.

Or as a closed-caption error the other day spelled it, Don Coyote. 🐺 As another LATimes subscriber, I agree.

HR was glad to use the protests as an excuse for the firing. They needed a good sounding reason since all of these writers were going to be replaced by AI anyway.

It sounds like union busting, which is a terrible reason for everyone but their investors—who can’t see past this quarter’s profits.
