Sadie Slater is being charged with robbery after allegedly driving off with the French bulldog.

The suspect in a dognapping was arrested Saturday, two weeks after allegedly driving off with a French bulldog as the owner clung to the car hood.

The Los Angeles Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 21-year-old Sadie Slater in Inglewood, California, on Saturday. She is being charged with robbery, and her bail is set at $70,000, according to the police.

Slater is allegedly responsible for the dognapping on Jan. 18 in Los Angeles, where the group she was with drove off with a French bulldog while the owner clung to the hood of the car. The incident was captured on video by a bystander.

What ’s are you finding confusing with it?

For me the worst part was “dognapping”. Followed by : “frantic owner clinging to car hood”. Because at this point, I am on the wrong track … since I am trying to figure out how the owner of the car was napping (like a dog ?) on his car’s hood (??) or whatever. I couldn’t make sense of that.

Ah, well Dognapping is a crime like kidnapping, which was originally used to describe nap/nabbing a child but was eventually used to describe the act for adults as well.

So once you think of it as someone stealing a dog, you can infer that they were holding onto the car of the perpetrators presumably in order to not let them escape.

A lot of the meaning is referential and taken from context clues, which I can see how that would be confusing if you didn’t know the context.

Ok, well, after reading the title I went on to read the “body” of the post and so I was rapidly back on track and understood that “dognapping” word … and was then able to grasp the rest…

I like this (newspaper article) title :
Foot heads arms body” meaning :
“Mr Foot is heading a group of people which is called a body that is concerned with a type of weapons which is designated by the word : arms

Sometimes it is fun to go beyond my initial confusion … but most often it is just making me lose some time … then I don’t understand and I just give up… and sometime, like today, I make some kind of a rant.

Thanks for your time, attention and your kindness 👍
