Weird racist posts from dank memes keeps showing up in my feed. Are we doing anything to prevent becoming Voat 2.0? We’re really concerned about Threads and that’s a big unknown. Weird racists already destroyed the last Reddit escape are we concerned about that? Like are we going to make a policy of defederating hate groups?
I’m pretty confident this community is using fake accounts since every post starts at ~20 and then gets down voted after it’s been forced into a bunch of people’s feed.
If not that’s fine I guess but does anyone have a suggestion for somewhere that will?
One of the main reason I joined this very instance is its neutral stance. I dislikie far left as much as I dislike far right. I always questions and criticize both spectrums, and I get called names from both sides and get associated with ‘hate groups’ on each side. Funny how you can be a nazi, a marxist, a capitalist and a liberal in the same time. But that’s the nature in extremes, to label all the opposition as hate groups.
There should be rules to not allow personal attacks, calls to violence and stuff like this, but the neutral stance should remain neutral.
The moment this instance picks a definite side I am out.

Critical thinking is ability to analyze different point of views without turning to labeling as -ists and -phobe and personal attacks. Like you just demonstrated, not everyone can do it.
Yeah I feel the same. Imgur and reddit labeled me a trumptard or a racist or an anti-LGBT dumb conservative, while Facebook and 9gag labeled me as a libtard, a fa***t, a socialist and a incel.
Usually the stance I get hated for is “maybe you’re right, but I think you’re taking it too far.” Which automatically must mean I’m of the extreme opposite opinion, and I’m scum.
I hate how the American polarization of political, social and economic spectrums is contaging other parts of the world. They just don’t get that one can be, for example, left leaning on social issues, right leaning on economics, and hold libertarian viewpoints on the statehood. It’s either you are fascist republican or communist democrat…

You claim to be a critical thinker but somehow think Americans invented & propagate polarizing beliefs? In what world are you living that Europeans were bereft of polarizing viewpoints before American politics somehow tainted them?
One can be, but that doesn’t mean one can’t also be mocked for such child-like views of politics. If your beliefs are so paper thin that a few downvotes on Lemmy cause you to throw a tantrum about “save Europe from American politics!”, I really question whether or not you have ANY critical thinking ability.
It’s also ridiculous to say you’re fiscally right and socially left. Social issues are inherently economic. You cannot cherry pick ideals from vastly opposing viewpoints and say that is your stance without reconciling the friction that opposition creates. Not even acknowledging it is the least amount of critical thinking I can think of.
No one called you a fascist in this thread so that disproves “it’s either or”, are you dredging up some past experience? Why are you dealing in such absolutes? Again I don’t think someone who “thinks critically” would say that “both sides” are always one thing or another. Just sounds like you have a lot to learn about yourself and the world.

I never said it was an American invention. Nor I said that it was their only problem. Just stated a fact. It is much easier to polarize politics in a two party system, and the USA is currently the best example
It’s not an accident. The polarized optics in the US is being manufactured by the billionaires who run the world. They want you mad, pissed off, and divided. They want us to fight each other and not them. It’s not even unique to the US.
You want to be mad at someone? Hate the banks and the hedge funds who use their wealth to lobby senators. Hate the rich owners of the world because they are the ones that built the very fabric of how today works. Hate the fuckers who attend the WEF as they collude and conspire to destroy the poor people of the world.
