At her sentencing hearing, Yvonne St Cyr did not express regret or accept any responsibility for her actions on Jan. 6, 2021.
A Jan. 6 defendant who claimed she believed she had the right to climb over broken glass to enter the Capitol was sentenced to 2 and a half years in federal prison on Wednesday.
Yvonne St Cyr — who during her trial in March was found guilty of two felony counts of civil disorder as well as several misdemeanors — was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John Bates to 30 months behinds bars, 36 months of supervised release and a $2,000 restitution to the Architect of the Capitol.
After her trial, St Cyr had said in a Facebook livestream that she wasn’t sure that the case would ever move to sentencing because “the truth” would come out before then.
“Their s—'s gonna blow up!" she said. "So, just keep watching Tucker, keep spreading the truth, keep talking about the corruption, keep sharing, and we will bring the system doooooowwwwn.”
Wow, let’s cover some of the gems there.
I’m sure “the truth” is coming right after infrastructure month.
Tucker Carlson’s show was canceled.
C’mon don’t leave us hanging, who was the source of that misguided sense? Also, getting ice cream on your first date with someone only to find out they’re lactose intolerant, that’s misguided. Attempting to overthrow the government, that’s a few levels past misguided. Just saying.
Actually I blame the judge on this one. After sitting for weeks listening to this lady’s crazy Facebook streams, figuring “what’s the worse that could happen if I let this lady speak freely?”, you’re just opening yourself up for that.
That said, I’m sure the 45-minute jam packed insane stream of consciousness diatribe was something to behold.
Shocking. Been a pattern of that with folks who attempted to overthrow the government. It’s like these small jail sentences aren’t deterrent enough.
Oh sweetheart, it’s a bit past just sounding that way.
I foresee another court case in her future, just a hunch.
Why the hell did the judge let it go on for 45 minutes?
Because if you step on them in any way they’ll file an appeal claiming you’re a biased judge. Easier to just let her rant and then get sentenced.
Those poor court stenographers
Couldn’t look away from the train wreck, probably
I thought the same thing about the 45 mins & the judge at first too, but now I wonder if she’s involved in any other crimes of this type, maybe the 45 min rant could somehow be used as evidence against her. So maybe it was smart in some way? This is my head-canon at least.
Just the teeniest bit of rationality poking through there.
