The Department of Agriculture is demanding states hand over personal data of food assistance recipients — including Social Security numbers, addresses and, in at least one state, citizenship status, according to emails shared with NPR by an official who was not allowed to speak publicly.
Hmm, they’ve made lists of autistic people, trans people and poor people. These fascists sure do love lists - can’t imagine why.
Not that I’m in favor of disarming citizens, but if you bring up gun control around these people, one of their first arguments against it is that a database of people who own guns is bad because it will be used for nefarious purposes. The unspoken part is “because that’s what we would do.”
As long as they don’t make a list of all the gun owners, they’ll probably retain power.
They 100% have lists of gun owners.
Doubtful that any lists they have are particularly accurate. There’s a lot of loopholes and decentralization/fragmentation on where that information is.
LOL no they don’t!
Can you prove that?
Several states require firearm registration, as does the fed for certain types of firearms.
That’s an interesting way of spelling, “no.”
Most states do not require firearms registration. There’s a handful that explicitly prohibit it. As far as states that have a general firearms registration is concerned, it’s limited to Hawaii and DC, so sure… you’ll get some people on a list there.
CA, CT, NY - there’s only a registry for certain types, not all.
There’s also no federal firearms registry whatsoever.
All they have to do is grab a copy of the NRA membership roster and mandate that gun stores turn over sales records for purchases of guns or ammunition.
I guarantee they can get you on a list pretty quick if they want to.
Yep, because cash isn’t a thing and everyone that owns a gun is an NRA member.
If the government wants you to have to show id to buy ammo, it’ll happen.
Unless you are manufacturing your own ammunition, you have to interact with someone the government has leverage over.
Gun manufacturers have already been caught giving warranty registration info to political action groups.

But the answer isn’t “no”. There are lists. That’s what the registry is. It’s a literal list of people who own firearms.
So if a list is < 1% complete, that’s good enough?
It’s good enough that it should be a concern, given the current admin with access to those lists.
What about all those guns I bought privately with cash and then buried? Good fucking luck gubbermint.
Bro…
I know, right? I thought all the gun owners lost them in a boating accident. I have no idea why so many gun owners take their entire collection fishing.
The fish have had it too good for too long! They must face the wrath of fire, thunder, and lead!
Require LOL yea and they require car insurance too! Still doesn’t matter!
they will probably ignored red districts, and counties.
This means I’ve finally made it onto a list.
