Three police officers were fatally shot and two wounded Wednesday in southern Pennsylvania, and the shooter was killed by police, authorities said.
The officers were at the scene, amid rolling farmland, to follow up on a domestic-related investigation that began the previous day.
It was one of the deadliest days for Pennsylvania police this century.
Here’s some more info …
According to CNN, the shooter is allegedly the ex-boyfriend of a woman who lived in the farmhouse on Haar Road where Wednesday’s incident occurred.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the woman reportedly observed the shooter stalking the house in a cornfield close by, and notified authorities.
The woman allegedly reported the incident to the Northern York County Regional Police Department to obtain an arrest warrant and a restraining order.
Officials attempted to serve the shooter with the warrant on Tuesday night but were unable to find him, law enforcement said.
Officers with the NYCRPD returned to the house to do a follow-up visit on Wednesday, which was when the shooter opened fire from a nearby cornfield. Three officers from the NYCRPD were killed.
The shooter then allegedly began moving toward the house where he exchanged gunfire with three York County Sheriff’s. Two of the York County Sheriffs were struck and injured, but one returned fire and killed the shooter, according to officials.
That’s a lot of cops for a follow up. Something is missing…

Thanks. Sounds to me like a person who reasonable gun control laws would have prevented from gun ownership.
Also, I bet there was earlier domestic abuse here that nobody took as seriously as they should have
e; actually, I retract that bet because I have no idea what happened in this specific situation and shouldn’t speak so casually about it. I will say in general domestic abuse gets overlooked until someone’s dead far too often and then it can turn mass shooter or family annihilator very quickly.
“I have never killed any one, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction.” - Clarence Darrow
Aljazeera has a scant few additional details:
Police said the officers were there to serve a warrant. At a news conference, Christopher Paris, the state police commissioner, explained that they were following up on an investigation that began the day before, but he shared few other details. “The general heading of that investigation, I would say,
From the original article:
“This kind of violence is not OK. We need to do better as a society,” Shapiro said.
Seems like quite a juxtaposition there. I wonder what the “disturbance” was, and what de-escalation approaches were attempted.
A woman’s ex was stalking her in a field outside her house. The cops tried to serve the warrant/restraining order but couldn’t find him.
When they went back to her house for a followup, the ex opened fire from the field.
I’m sure the further will tell us later today. Probably something to do with someone waking up and becoming woke. With the immediate need to cancel another late night host as a result.
Womp womp :(
How many likes can I get for my espresso martini recipe?
- 1-1.5oz espresso or moka pot coffee
- 1oz coffee liqueur of choice
- 1oz vodka of choice
- Splash maple syrup
- (Optional) Spiced maple bitters
Add to cocktail shaker with ice and shake like it owes you money. Rim glass with chocolate powder. Gently pour into glass (foam is good) and garnish with two coffee beans.
I should get a moka pot…
Also, if you prefer a smokier variant, you can try mezcal. It’s really good.
Also also, walnut or mole bitters are a great addition.
