Summary

Following the driest October recorded in over 150 yeaR, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has issued a drought watch and urged residents to take shorter showers, fix dripping faucets, and implement water-conservation plans.

The city is also repairing a leaky aqueduct, leading to increased reliance on reservoirs in the northern suburbs, which also experienced a drier-than-average October.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted for promoting a more sustainable culture and trying to reduce human impact of climate change through beef consumption

Because people don’t want to change the lifestyle to which they have become accustomed. People who like meat, like meat.

Doing a meat-free Friday is probably a good start, but everyone’s already being asked to make sacrifices in their lives to just get by and most people are already stressed out. Taking away even more of what they enjoy takes its toll. And then of course there’s the meat industry and their lobbying power.

Honestly we just need to start desalinating. These droughts are just going to continue and may even get worse. Freshwater is going to start getting very expensive and it will start getting baked into the price of things like meat. At least with fruits and veggies there’s indoor farming that can cut down on water usage.

Probably because it would not help the problem in question. It’s good long term service, useless short term advice.

Yeah not just for water reasons either. Bird flu is in there, who knows when it’ll start spreading that way too
