If people keep expecting Dem candidates to be 100% pure in their viewpoints then we will be stuck with MAGA again and again.

Now’s the fucking time to criticize Dem candidates, before and then during the Dem primaries. Our options going forward aren’t “Newsom or a fucking Republican” yet, so don’t fucking resign yourself - and all of us by extension - to fucking Newsom.

This exactly. Choose your preferred candidate during the primaries. Then hopefully have a tolerable choice on the November ballot.

Newsom is a neo-feudalist asshat who tried to lick fascist boots earlier this very year. If a corprocrat like him is chosen, Dems are cooked because voters have consistently not turned out for them recently. If such a flakey and uninspiring candidate is chosen, MAGA has a better chance due to base suppression. It doesn’t matter that you think voters should act differently, because what is =/= what “ought” to be.

I’m tired of people expecting voters to shape themselves to the party instead of the other way around. Trump didn’t dominate other Republicans by telling people to “be better,” but by agreeing to satiate their strongest emotions. People aren’t in the mood to hear “it can’t be done yet, be patient,” when everyone’s economic situation has gotten worse with every passing year regardless of who is in charge. Democrats have nothing but false promises, which is why they lost against the American Hitler.

“Vote blue no matter who” got us Donald Trump, and a Democratic Party that barely makes a shadow effort to oppose him. I for one am finished with that.

I’m not done with it. Mamdani won the primary in New York. People like Hakeem Jeffries need to pull their damn britches up and vote blue no matter who, amirite?

He’s miles above the average Democrat if you really look into all the details, the Republicans are masters of personal attacks and talking points that poison the discussion vs. Address any part of reality. Be careful not to fall for it. Granted like Obama he’s a careful centrist with no real desire to move the needle one direction or the other and that’s been the problem this whole time it’s establishment Dems want to play both sides and it stopped working after Trump’s cult. So. He’s not the answer to the problems Harris had, he’s likely to put his foot in the same trap and he’s by no means a liberal or populist, but he his a very strong debtor and a successful Gov if you look into it factually.

It is 2025, and we are talking about an election that is happening in 2028. The primary isn’t even on most people’s radar. If we can’t criticize candidates now, precisely when is it appropriate to level criticism at politicians???

Never, the answer is never. Never criticize, just bend over and take it just like the Republicans do. No choice, no voice, shut up and support the politicians who support the billionaire class.

Source: I have been seeing this same song and dance for 25 fucking years.

You know why Republicans get support? Because they at least lie and say they are supporting common people. Democrats give us this wishy washy bullshit of “well we did studies and we can’t really make that happen” and fucking nobody wants to endlessly be told “no, we can’t” by a bunch of policy wonk nerds.

I as well, but would you vote for a transphobic Dem, a MAGA Republican, or just not vote?

Those are the only options? We can’t have non transphobic people in primaries? We can’t hold them to a hire standard? If we are at the point where these are our only options, we are already cooked.

Hold them to a higher standard and they will be forced to it. Giving in and staying well, I’d rather vote for a transphobe than a MAGA allows them to stay transphobic.

This is the whole problem, we’ve been convinced we need to vote for harm reduction and only harm reduction, and even the Democrats are sliding further right.

Do better. Don’t accept a shit sandwich and a shit sandwich with mayonnaise.

In the November elections those are often the only choices. You can vote Dem or vote MAGA or not vote, the last two options get us MAGA.

Those aren’t the choices right now. Gavin shouldn’t even make it that far. We desperately need new blood, someone who captures the anger at the heart of the american left-of-center, not another establishment democrat who will pretend it isn’t there.

What a farce. People don’t want diet Republican candidates which is why the Republicans control every branch of government. The DNC would rather hand over control than allow a progressive to hold office.

centrists, always giving away every negotiation before it even starts. I imagine back on the schoolyard you’d chase bullies down and demand they took your milk money.
