If the priests do hear a confession from a dangerous individual then I hope they do pass a tip onto the police and even be willing to testify at the risk of excommunication, but to punish priests for the crime of association seems pointless and would likely decrease the possibility of such a confession in the first place.

But Catholic Priests are, they’re expected to as Mandated Reporters, but Catholic Priests have confessionals which do not record or report who is saying what.
If a catholic priest hears a person confess to fucking a child, they need to exit the booth, identify the person, and call the police. If they don’t they are complicit and should be sent to jail—or killed whatever.
