The law doesn’t go into effect until January 2026, and the text of the law seems to give agencies until July 2026 to comply. That falls between the 2026 primaries and general election—presumably that will make enforcement of this law an election issue for candidates for local sheriff and state office.

Of course he will. He needs them to go do progressive stuff like sweep homeless camps.

Maybe not, up to a point where he won’t have a police force anymore. Even then, they’ll quickly get re-hired as white trash Gestapo, and then what?

Lol, no. Corporate Dems not only love cops, but also know that they could get actually banned from office for resisting the federal government. The law was political theatre, neither being enforceable or applying to many of the officers under their jurisdiction.

They might be able to get hired by ICE, but I imagine them being hired by another policing agency when they have an open case against them may put a hold on their background checks.

It’s not uncommon for police to murder someone / do something terrible, get fired, then immediately move to the next town over and get hired. This is nothing.

We wear masks to stop the spread of germs and we take them off to stop the spread of fascism. I wouldn’t call it interesting, more like common sense.

Wearing masks against disease is still permitted under the ordinance. So are tactical riot gear clear face protectors. Only wearing masks to conceal identity is prohibited. I realize you’re just being a seal, arfarfarf, but I’m stating the facts for the sake of other readers.

Its very common to wear cloth masks to prevent disease spread, the mask mandates…mandated at least cloth masks. They appear to be wearing cloth masks.

Is it the opinion of the room that wearing a cloth mask is bad now?

Correct. And it was widely considered good to wear at least cloth masks. Is it now bad to wear cloth masks?

No. But it is bad that ICE agents and similar are public servants that should be identifiable when on duty. If your neighbour gets put in an unmarked van by a group of guys with face masks how do you know it was ICE or a gang that kidnapped them??
