Incident in which migrants were shackled with hands tied of one succession of alleged abuses at jails in Florida

Migrants at a Miami immigration jail were shackled with their hands tied behind their backs and made to kneel to eat food from styrofoam plates “like dogs”, according to a report published on Monday into conditions at three overcrowded south Florida facilities.

The incident at the downtown federal detention center is one of a succession of alleged abuses at Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (Ice) operated jails in the state since January, chronicled by advocacy groups Human Rights Watch, Americans for Immigrant Justice, and Sanctuary of the South from interviews with detainees.

Dozens of men had been packed into a holding cell for hours, the report said, and denied lunch until about 7pm. They remained shackled with the food on chairs in front of them.

My own imagination terrifies me about potential horrific shit we’re not hearing about this place.

What’s to stop these sadistic fucks from committing Unit 731 levels of horrors? (if you’re not familiar with imperial Japan’s Unit 731 and decide to go look it up, please proceed with immense with caution, it’s the absolute worst shit you can imagine, possibly worse than you can imagine)

We could have written them off as civilized years ago. I think it’s well beyond that now.

Should have, but lots of countries didn’t because there was just too much money to be made by going along with US bullshit. If Cletus with a GED in bumfuck Mississippi is morally culpable for this (and he is) then Klaus with the PhD in the Bundestag ought to explain himself too.

Agreed. My own country is one of the most culpable. My disability payments come from a pension plan heavily invested in 'Murica and they refuse to even consider changing. Lots of folks collecting from American investments. Companies. Government. Individuals.

ICE: brought to you by the “I can’t eats my shredded wheats no next to a black. Or drink from the same water fountain!” crowd. The ultimate snowflakes.

I am pretty sure that some of these ICE bastards, if they ever visited Auschwitz, would all be excitedly going “Write that down! Write that down!”.

Although perhaps assuming they can write os a bit of a stretch.

Considering that the Nazis learned from USA but had to make racial laws and more laxer I’m not sure they need any inspiration

Remember when that treatment came to light and people were generally horrified? Do we just need photos so everyone can see what’s going on with their own two eyes like Abu Ghraib? Or are we morally past the point where people who voted for this would even care? They might even celebrate it.

I don’t want to sound like I’m defending torture or anything. I just want to point out that at least the prisoners at Abu Ghraid were accused of being terrorists (whether that was accurate or not).

The people at Alligator Auschwitz are just migrants.

Regardless of the reason why these people are incarcerated, they’re being treated as if they’re not human.

And the people in Abu Ghraib never got due process either.
